THE COWFOLD MEDICAL GROUP

WELCOME TO THE AUTUMN 2017 NEWSLETTER

Dr Corinne Fletcher

We are looking forward to welcoming our new Partner, Dr Corinne Fletcher to The Practice with effect from Monday 13 November 2017. Many of you will be familiar with Dr Fletcher as she worked several sessions for us before going on maternity leave.

Dr Fletcher will be working alongside Dr Katie Carter, sharing a patient list, and is basically taking over from Dr Stupple. Patients currently registered with Dr Carter will now be able to see either Dr Carter or Dr Fletcher. During the course of the next few months we will then be re-allocating some of Dr Carter’s current patients to Dr Fletcher.

Dr Fletcher’s clinics will be as follows:

Wednesday   2.00pm-3.30pm at Cowfold

Thursday       9.10am-11.30am at Partridge Green

Friday           9.10am-11.30am at Partridge Green

Friday           2.00pm-3.30pm at Cowfold

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Jenny Willis for helping us out over the past few months, and she will hopefully still provide us with GP cover in the future.

Dispensary News

The dedicated telephone number for contacting the dispensary is: 01403 788072. A new message has been attached to this line to confirm that it is for enquiries only & not for ordering repeat medication. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE CANNOT ACCEPT REQUESTS FOR REPEAT MEDICATION OVER THE PHONE. Please also ensure that you give yourself plenty of time to order repeat medication as we require 3 FULL WORKING days to fulfil your prescription.

Further Clinics will be added during November 2017, if you are unable to attend one of the above Clinics.

If you are eligible for a pneumococcal vaccination, (over 65) you can have that at the same time as the flu vaccination: just let the Receptionist know.

If you are eligible for the shingles vaccination, please book a separate appointment with the Practice Nurse. Eligibility for the shingles vaccination is as follows:

Those people whose current age is 70, 71, 72, 73 & 74: born after 1/09/1942, and those people who are 78 & 79.

Waiting Times

We are aware that recently you may have been kept waiting for longer than you would expect when you have an appointment to see your GP. Unfortunately it is not always possible for the Doctor to see every patient in the 10 minute time slot that is allocated. Sometimes patients present with more than one problem, or may have a very complex issue, the doctor may have to deal with a medical emergency, or a patient may have been ‘squeezed in’ as an emergency appointment. We ask for your patience should this happen and will endeavor to warn you if your doctor is running more than 20 minutes late when you check in with Reception. The reception staff have no control over how long your doctor may spend with a patient & cannot predict how much longer they may be. We do, however aim to keep you informed.

Zero Tolerance

We have a zero tolerance policy at the Surgery and will not accept verbal or indeed physical abuse. We understand that on occasions you may be under a great deal of stress. Rest assured we are doing our very best to help you, but if you become abusive you may be asked to leave the premises and in extreme circumstances may be asked to leave the Practice and register elsewhere. We are here to help, and pride ourselves in our flexible approach.

Missed appointments

In August there were a total of 60 missed appointments – 28 with the Doctors & 32 with the nurses. Had these appointments been cancelled they could have been offered to other patients. Please cancel your appointment if you no longer need it.

We have recently introduced a text alert service to remind you of booked appointments, please help us by ensuring we have your up to date contact details.
